LOS ANGELES, CA — Los Angeles County has approved nearly $11.5 million in funding to help prevent homelessness among at-risk residents, marking the largest single allocation so far from Measure A, the county’s voter-approved housing initiative. The funds will be administered by the Affordable Housing Solutions Agency and are aimed at providing direct rental subsidies and flexible financial assistance to keep families and individuals in their homes.
The funding comes at a critical time, as many homeless services across the county face budget tightening. According to officials, the new allocation could support approximately 700 households over the next 18 months, offering a combination of rental relief, utility support, and other financial resources designed to prevent eviction.
County leaders emphasized the importance of proactive prevention strategies, noting that keeping residents in their homes is far more cost-effective than funding emergency shelters or other crisis interventions. The program will also focus on flexible assistance, giving case managers discretion to address individual household needs, including one-time rent payments, utility arrears, and short-term housing support.
