Man Extradited From Texas to Face 16 Child Sex Abuse Charges in Marina, California

MARINA, Calif. — A 65-year-old man was extradited from Texas to Monterey County this week and booked into the Monterey County Jail on multiple child sex abuse charges, authorities in Marina said Thursday.

Police identified the suspect as Jose Guadalupe Reyes, who had moved to Texas after a criminal complaint was filed against him in October 2025. Marina police obtained an arrest warrant, and with the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Service, Reyes was located and taken into custody in Dallas on Nov. 26 before being transported back to California.

Reyes now faces 16 felony counts related to alleged sexual assaults involving four female victims, including charges of forcible lewd acts on a child, lewd acts on a child, and aggravated sexual assault of a child, according to the criminal complaint.

The alleged offenses are reported to have occurred over several years — spanning from 1996 through 2011 — with some victims under the age of 14 at the time.

After arriving in Monterey County this week, Reyes was booked into jail, and a $4,520,000 bail amount was set, as indicated on the Monterey County Jail log. He was arraigned Wednesday and entered a not guilty plea, court records show.
